What is life? Why do we live? What is the meaning of our existence? Life is like fireworks in the night sky—beautiful yet fleeting. We live to face setbacks and to experience joy that, though brief, is eternal. The true meaning of life is often realized in the moments when we experience the greatest bitterness or sweetness in our lives.
Courage, hope, and love are the sunlight of life. When facing adversity and suffering, people often long for a miracle. But what should we do when miracles cease to appear? Some choose to run away because they no longer want to face reality; others escape to avoid the contemptuous eyes of others; some withdraw to escape the cold mockery from those around them. However, some view these challenges as trials sent by fate and choose to face them bravely; others trust in their own courage and ultimately achieve success.
Nick Vujicic was born with a rare condition, lacking limbs and possessing only two small "chicken feet" that helped him with daily activities. His physical disability led him to contemplate suicide at the age of eight. Later, however, he used those very feet to accomplish many things others deemed impossible for him. He learned to write, type on a computer, answer the phone, throw a ball, and even swim. At the age of twenty-one, he earned a university degree and traveled the world to give speeches, spreading the resilience of the human spirit.
Pain and setbacks are tests given to us by the heavens. Do not give up or escape just because you encounter obstacles. "Rather than cursing the darkness, light a candle." If miracles disappear, use your own courage, dreams, and hope to light another candle, open another window, and find another path forward.
