Love appears simple, for everyone can easily declare, "I love you and am willing to give you everything." Yet, it is profoundly difficult, as few can truly fulfill such a promise. If one truly loves, devotion exists without the need for vows; if one does not love, even past promises will eventually be broken.
Tick, tock. That is the sound of longing. It drifts through the air, shattering into a thousand pieces upon kissing the leaves. I lack the strength to pick them up one by one, so I let them gather beneath the eaves, within my heart, converging into a stream. It is hard to control one's emotions; how does one struggle and drift in the vortex of longing? In this game of fate, I have finally made a wrong move, allowing my heart to sink in the cold, rushing waters.
The most desolate distance in the world is when two people start far apart, strangers to each other. Suddenly, they meet and fall in love, bringing the distance to a close. Then, one day, they stop loving each other, and the two, once so close, become distant again—perhaps even farther than they were before they met.
That dream, carrying pure expectations, holds a faint longing and a light sorrow. No matter how many complex emotions arise, they glide lightly across my fingertips, and thus, I am at peace. In this brilliant era of youth, what I can do is take these feelings hidden in my heart and splash them with ink onto the plain paper of time, giving them a place to rest.
