When we truly accept and even find a certain depth in suffering, life ceases to be merely bitter. Instead, pain adds a layer of savor to what might otherwise be an ordinary existence. No matter how poor or disheartened one may be, one should always cherish genuine emotions and treat others with sincerity. Conversely, no matter how wealthy or successful, one must never lose their conscience or fail to reciprocate with genuine feeling. Gains and losses are not permanent, nor are joys and sorrows fixed. Treat people with sincerity, and good rewards will follow. Time cannot be rewound. For what has already passed, there is no point in trying to hold it back; if it is missed, it is missed. Some things are meant to be cherished in our hearts rather than possessed. Unforgettable people, dreams we have had, expectations we have held, and the paths we have walked—what of them now? Clear your heart and discard the old to make room for the new.
Work, but do not make money your sole purpose. Love, but forget the wrongs others have done to you. Dance, regardless of whether anyone is watching. Sing, without worrying if anyone is listening. Live, as if this world is paradise. In truth, human sorrow, joy, love, and hatred are like a flower: open your eyes, and it exists; close them, and you may as well consider it nothing. Thinking this way brings relief; excessive attachment is truly unnecessary. When there are many good people, bad ones may easily succeed because bad people are scarce and thus rise in status. Conversely, because good people are scarce, their value multiplies. Keep on being a good person, and good fortune will eventually turn in your favor.
