Taking the straight road is quick and convenient, yet it often causes one to miss the scenery along the way, leaving behind many regrets. Taking the detour, though time-consuming and effortful, allows one to appreciate the beauty en route and experience the delight of finding new paths through dense mountains and winding waters. Both the straight road and the detour have their unique charms.
A straight road, though straight, may be longer in distance; a curved road, though winding, may bring one closer to the destination. A straight road, though flat, may be monotonous; a curved road, though rough, may lead to greater brilliance. Walking the detour means facing more risks, greater hardships, and heavier pressure. However, is it not through all these trials that the foundation for greater future success is laid? When one reaches the end of the water where clouds rise, that place often becomes the realization of one's dreams.
"Shan chong shui fu" (mountains and waters appearing again and again) represents a difficult and recurring exploration; "liu an hua ming" (willows dark and flowers bright) signifies a sudden and unexpected success. People have always favored the flatness of the straight road, but who can guarantee that a broad highway was not carved out of a steep cliff? Who can assert that a secluded, winding path does not lead to the peak of success? The detour is a unique landscape in the journey of seeking truth.
Life requires the skill to navigate detours. After all, ninety percent of things in life may not go as planned. When the heart is in pain and seems unable to bear it, if one still insists on continuing, walking on and on... a miracle will eventually appear...
Taking detours is the norm in nature; taking the straight path is the exception. As a river flows forward, it encounters various obstacles that it cannot jump over. It must find a way around, winding and twisting to avoid the barriers, only to finally reach the distant ocean. When we encounter setbacks and frustrations on our life's journey, we should also maintain a peaceful mindset and view a tortuous life as a normal state. Do not be pessimistic or despairing, do not sigh endlessly, and do not stagnate. Instead, view taking detours as a form or means of moving forward. Viewing the setbacks and frustrations encountered along the way with an even-minded attitude will help us live a more wonderful life.
