“Where did you learn such sharp insight?” the clothing store owner asked her husband in amazement. “You are always so perceptive every time.”
On the path of life, not everyone will support you. In moments of silence, it is wise to look back and reflect on yourself. We cannot control what others do or think. What we can do is focus on ourselves, understand the value of tolerance, and learn to treat everyone around us with a forgiving heart and kind words.
When sitting quietly, often reflect on one’s own faults; when chatting, avoid criticizing others. One who can endure suffering is a person of ambition; one who appears simple-minded is not necessarily foolish. Respecting the noble reveals one’s virtue; fearing the petty does not signify incompetence. Retreating a step opens up a vast horizon; yielding three parts brings peace of mind. To progress, one must think of retreating; before starting, one should plan for letting go. When successful, avoid pushing too hard; in all matters, leave some room for maneuver. Hold gold as precious; only when one knows comfort is its value worth a thousand. When matters arise, thinking three times is best; when anger arises, forbearance is the highest virtue.
If he no longer loves you, you might cry and turn away, running with tears, looking back to see if he is still there. You hope he is watching, believing all your running was for him. Yet, as you run, you get farther away. You stop crying and stop loving him. You are running for yourself. Every heartbreak and every tearful run makes you stronger. When you become strong, you will meet someone stronger than you; When you become better, you will deserve something better.
