There is an emotion in this world called longing. Once it takes hold, it follows you like a shadow, endless and perpetual. Much like the protagonist in the poem, who expresses the boundless sentiment of missing a loved one, this emotion is profound and enduring.
Pursuing profit does not merely refer to chasing money, goods, or career advancement, but broadly refers to the desire for anything that benefits oneself. However, if profit-seeking becomes the fundamental motive, and chasing gains becomes the primary rule, it exerts a strong corrosive effect on both human hearts and society. Unscrupulous merchants hoarding goods, illegal producers manufacturing substandard products, and stock speculators dreaming of getting rich overnight are all manifestations of greed corrupting individuals and society. This is because profit stems from the primal impulse of possession in life, often leading people to ignore moral standards and harm others and society.
In a highly developed information age, the knowledge absorbed by any individual can never be all-encompassing. Without a humble attitude in interactions, one cannot win the favor of others. Those who are always self-righteous will inevitably fail to earn the respect of others.
Some people have low tolerance for setbacks and choose to vent excessively at the slightest discomfort, often disregarding the time, place, and audience. Such arbitrary venting not only harms others but also hurts oneself. They often claim to be “straightforward and carefree,” which actually reveals their immaturity and poor ability to control their emotions and behavior. Therefore, in life, one must learn self-control, continuously adjust emotions, and choose appropriate times and methods for venting to restore psychological balance.
Each of us is a member of the multitudes, with our own strengths and weaknesses, and all desire recognition from others. Thus, we ceaselessly strive and fight, constantly caring about others' gazes. Unknowingly, we live for ourselves, not for others' eyes or their evaluations. If we wish to have a broader life stage and play a more stirring melody of life, we must learn to live modestly. In many moments, even if no one pays attention to us, we do not need to take ourselves so seriously.
