Hello! My name is Wang Fen, a sophomore student in the Hotel Management major, class of 20xx, at the School of Economics and Management. Over the past year, I have maintained a positive and upward-looking mindset, holding myself to high standards and striving for comprehensive development. I have achieved excellent results in both my studies and class work. With the care of teachers and classmates, I am steadily moving closer to my ideals. After careful consideration and self-evaluation, I hereby apply for the National Encouragement Scholarship. Below is a report on my achievements over the past year for your review.
I. Family Situation
My family is from a rural area in Chengcheng County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, and my parents are farmers. During my senior year of high school, my father suddenly collapsed and was diagnosed with a heart disease. The treatment cost tens of thousands of yuan, and he still relies on medication to maintain his health. Unfortunately, shortly after, my grandmother was diagnosed with lung disease, incurring another large medical expense. My mother is now solely supporting the family through farming to cover all medical bills. With my younger brother in high school and me in university, the financial burden is extremely heavy. My mother’s income is no longer sufficient to cover our expenses, and we are struggling financially. Seeing this deeply pains me. I hope to use this opportunity to alleviate the burden on my family while motivating myself to study even harder.
II. Ideological Situation
Upon entering university, I immediately submitted my application to join the Party. After a year of effort and positive performance, I am currently undergoing training as a Party member candidate. Ideologically, I actively seek progress, establishing sound values, moral standards, and outlook on life. I strive to stay current with the times, keeping a close eye on the development of our country and the international situation. I am striving to join the Communist Party of China as soon as possible, maintaining a positive attitude and working to become a member of this honorable organization.
III. Academic Performance
In the past year, I studied diligently and worked hard, ranking fifth in my class at the end of the first semester. However, I was not satisfied with this result, believing I could do better. Therefore, I worked even harder in the second semester and ultimately achieved first place. Nevertheless, I did not become complacent. I also enrolled in computer courses and restaurant server training outside of school. Through my efforts, I successfully completed these courses and obtained the relevant certificates.
