What is integrity? It means that when dealing with others, it is as if you are saying: "I want to share my true thoughts with you, and I will take responsibility for them." This is what honesty and keeping one's word truly mean.

Let me give a small example. In a traffic dispute, when a car and a bicycle graze each other, which party usually offers compensation? It is almost always the party who is better cultured. I have personally witnessed this, and seen it happen more than once among other intellectuals: if you are the driver, you will compensate; if you are the cyclist, you will still compensate. Of course, this example may not be entirely perfect, as being cultured does not necessarily equate to having a noble soul, and the one demanding compensation is not necessarily a villain, just perhaps a bit more arrogant. I merely want to illustrate that in close-quarters conflicts, people with better culture are more likely to compromise than those without. They prefer to suffer a loss rather than get entangled in a dispute.

All spiritual creations, all treasures of the soul, ultimately end up being destroyed by things without a soul: rats, wood-boring insects, water, fire, earthquakes, war, air, time...

I love lying on the grass at night and gazing up at the stars, but I do not wish to be a star myself.

Sometimes, we need to rise above the clouds to look down at ourselves and the people around us. Only then will we be less demanding of both ourselves and others.

I hold a gentle sympathy for human weakness, far exceeding my admiration for human strengths. People with obvious weaknesses often feel more familiar and close to me.
