If someone were to ask me, "Why do you cherish the past, the present, and the future?" I would ask them to guess a riddle: "Three brothers live in one house, their faces distinct yet hard to distinguish. At first glance, they seem alike. The eldest is not home, but on his way back; the second has just left the house; only the youngest sits at home. Though the youngest is the last in rank, he is of crucial importance. For when the eldest becomes the second, this third brother is born. If you try to watch one, you always see his brothers."
If someone asked, "What is the answer to this riddle?" I would truthfully say: "It is the past, the present, and the future."
The past leaves behind memories of beauty and annoyance, yet it deserves our cherishing because it is our past. The present is complex; it quickly becomes the past, interwoven between the future and the past, a puzzle worth cherishing. The future gives us strength, making us aspire and look forward, yet it also frightens us because it holds the power of judgment. But I believe one thing: the future is crafted by us.
Past + Present + Future = Time. This is my formula. Whether it is the past, the present, or the future, they are all our time. We should treat this powerful trio gently, make the best use of them, and cherish them well.
