Work encompasses four levels of enlightenment. The first is survival, where one primarily seeks to meet basic needs like food and shelter; having a job to sustain life is the foundational stage. The second is career, where financial security is achieved, and work evolves into a career, becoming a spiritual pursuit and a source of accomplishment. The third is joy, where the act of working itself brings happiness and a sense of fun. The fourth is self-transcendence, where the individual and the work merge completely, making work an inseparable part of life and existence.
Light breeze and faint clouds make for pleasant weather; a calm and elegant demeanor constitutes a noble character. "Dan" (lightness/calmness) implies inner wisdom and outer grace. It does not need intense embellishment to stand out; one stands on one's own authenticity and treats the world with tolerance. Extreme joy or sorrow drains internal vitality and invites external resentment, eventually damaging harmony. Do not dwell on trivialities; even when necessary, keep complaints to a minimum. Face the noisy world with composure. Life is a single journey, and the most important thing is to feel at ease. Live with a calm mindset, and troubles will naturally dissipate like smoke. By enjoying the process of life, one finds greater pleasure in it. To give is to gain. When we share smiles, we gain friendship; when we practice tolerance, we gain magnanimity; when we are honest, we gain friends; when we let go of face, we gain substance; when we release fame, we gain freedom; when we give generously, we gain a good reputation; when we let go, we gain peace of mind.
Keep moving forward; do not look back. When you follow the natural flow, your inner world becomes gradually clearer. Walking a detour straight is wise, as it finds a shortcut; walking a straight path with curves is open-minded, as it allows you to enjoy more scenery. Always maintain a heart of tolerance and gratitude. Tolerance is not only a virtue but also a form of wisdom, as vast as the sea accepting a hundred rivers.
