A gentleman should observe nine aspects: ensuring clarity in seeing and listening; maintaining a gentle expression and a humble appearance; speaking with integrity; acting with caution and seriousness; seeking advice when in doubt; considering the consequences when angry; and adhering to righteousness when pursuing profit.
32. "A falling leaf signifies autumn" is a scientific summary of a natural phenomenon. Its philosophical essence lies in perceiving the whole and its future trends through minute details. Such individuals possess rigorous reasoning and logical thinking, noticing small changes to predict major shifts.
33. To achieve great things and build lasting legacies, one must recognize the times and act according to the changing circumstances.
34. "When the person leaves, the tea grows cold" is a law of nature; "When the person stays, the tea grows cold" is the reality of human indifference. To a Buddhist, tea is Zen; to a Taoist, it is Qi; to a Confucian, it is ritual; to a merchant, it is profit. Tea says: I am merely water; what you see is your own projection. What you think, you become. Heart is tea, and tea is heart!
35. Seeing the situation, Dou Gu ordered his subordinates to withdraw the soldiers from one exit, leaving another open. His subordinates were bewildered: "General, the enemy is surrounded and cannot escape! Moreover, there are only a few hundred of them! We could annihilate them in a few days! Why let them flee?" "It is not to let them escape," Dou Gu replied. "Now that they have no retreat, they will fight desperately. Since the valley has abundant vegetation and water, they won't starve. A prolonged siege would result in heavy casualties for us even in victory. Thus, we let them out to strike them down while they are in pursuit."
36. In life, let things take their natural course; a peaceful heart brings natural happiness. With a balanced mindset, one can remain indifferent to pain, fame, and fortune. Seek what is needed while letting go of what is not. Do not feel the need to disguise yourself or flatter others; simply be your true, authentic self. Peace of mind is the finest state of living. Do not over-expect or force matters; if it is destined, it will happen.
37. A truly learned person is humble and does not lecture everyone; a truly wealthy person is low-key and does not flaunt; a truly virtuous person is wise and does not boast; a truly wise person is versatile and does not show off; a person of taste is natural and not pretentious; a person of cultivation is quiet and does not strive for precedence.
38. Many things are only understood through experience. Much like love—only after being hurt do we learn to protect ourselves, and only after being foolish do we learn when to persist and when to let go. In the cycle of gaining and losing, we slowly discover our true selves. Life does not require useless persistence; once you learn to let go, life becomes easier.
39. Those experiences I thought would be forever etched in my heart eventually fade with time, as details blur and mindsets shift, becoming mere memories detached from my former self.
40. Unfulfilled desire brings pain; fulfilled desire brings boredom. Life oscillates between these two states.
41. Often, upon learning something unexpectedly, we pretend to be indifferent with a smile, even though our hearts ache more than anything.
42. Anger often causes us to lose our reason and act foolishly. In life, we must learn not to act while filled with rage.
43. A slow carriage will eventually overtake a running hare.

45. Everyone receives two types of education: one from others, and more importantly, one from oneself.
46. Life itself is already full of hardships; if we cannot provide hope for ourselves, it would be too cruel. May our souls find warmth and solace.
