1. Where the soul settles, fragrance fades; through much dust and toil, very little remains of what time has stolen. At the station of seasons, youthful years have passed, and weary shadows fall with the frost. Time is heartless, as aged dust covers forced smiles, and the rings of time are etched in grey.
2. "Those driven by desire are like those carrying a torch against the wind; they will inevitably suffer burns"; "Regarding wealth and beauty, people's reluctance to let go is like a blade coated in honey—not enough for a single meal, yet if a child licks it, they will suffer a cut tongue"!
3. They say every encounter in this world is a long-awaited reunion. It is experience, not time, that makes a person mature. Trust is like a piece of paper; once crumpled, it can never be fully restored even if smoothed out. Time may not prove everything, but it can certainly see through everything. Only through experiencing life's journey do we realize its varying lengths; without experiencing storms, how can one see the rainbow? Without enduring winter, how can one appreciate the splendor of spring? No flower stays red forever, and no person stays good eternally. One must learn to find clarity and hope in life's ups and downs, much like finding a new path after a dead end.
4. Hide a bit of your own merits and cover a bit of others' flaws; forget some past grievances and remember some past kindnesses; do not show your perception of others' hypocrisy, and do not voice the losses you suffer; bestow kindness without boasting, and receive favors without forgetting them in your heart; if you wish others to understand you, understand them first; if you wish others to respect you, respect them first.
5. A solitary life is bitter, a life for two is troublesome, but a life for three is sweeter than honey. People should love when they should, marry when they should, and have children when they should. Life is like a game of chess; you must move step by step, piece by piece. That is true love, and that is life.
6. A woman moved into a new home and experienced a power outage at night. She lit a candle, and then someone knocked on the door. It was a neighbor's child asking, "Auntie, do you have a candle?" The woman thought, "Goodness, asking for things right after moving in! How will it be in the future?" So she replied coldly, "No!" The child smiled with a hint of triumph: "I knew you didn't have one. My mom was afraid you'd be scared, so she sent me to give you a candle." We often make the mistake of using the darkness in our hearts to extinguish the seeds of kindness.
7. The world is full of chaos, where people forgive and endure one another, playing out all the grievances and passions of life. Watching the shifting tides of the world, nothing is fixed. Facing everything, let go of the past without entanglement; remain calm and composed, like clouds gathering and dispersing. Every day, every moment, is both an end and a beginning.
8. An old man fortune-telling on a bridge can easily pose as a master just by sporting a beard, fooling those who seem clever. Why does it work? It is due to the human instinct to seek fortune and avoid misfortune. This innate nature cannot be erased simply by reading a few classics. If you could find a normal person in this world who does not seek to avoid misfortune, I would give you a million dollars without hesitation!
9. A wise friend will not force a friend to choose between friendship and self-interest, but will strive to create mutual benefits; only foolish people test the humanity of others, only to end up hurting both sides.
10. Every individual is unique and should recognize their own unique talents and value. Do not overestimate yourself with blind arrogance and attempt things beyond your capability, nor should you underestimate yourself and fail to unlock the potential of your life's gifts.
11. Being belittled and despised can also be a good thing. If you are unwilling to be looked down upon, work a hundred times harder to stand tall with results that surpass them, making the arrogant admit defeat. This is the essence of benefiting from humiliation—the key lies in continuous self-improvement and moving forward.
12. A person should have at least two friends: one tolerant, and one fierce. The tolerant one teaches us to be inclusive of others. The fierce one is responsible for teaching those who bully us a lesson, while we simply stand by and watch.
13. Procedures are meant to tell employees to do the right thing; systems are meant to prevent employees from doing the wrong thing.
14. Success or failure in life often hinges on a single thought. The gap between the rich and the poor lies in their mindsets. Those who obsess over immediate gains will lose their future. The path always belongs to the strong and to those who do not fear the world; in truth, the world is not scary as long as you are brave enough to approach it.
15. Conscience is a mirror. It can reflect your inner self, as well as the projection of others and the outside world onto your heart. When this mirror is clear, the heart is bright. Regrettably, some people's mirrors are covered in dust, making everything they see blurry or even dirty; some have broken mirrors, seeing only fragmented images; and some have discarded the mirror entirely, losing the boundary between right and wrong in their pursuit of fame and fortune.
