1. Slowly, you will realize that some things are not what you desire, but must be completed; that, too, is a form of training for yourself.
2. With wealth, one may be a prime minister at thirty; without wealth, one may be a laborer at eighty.
3. Some compare love to candlelight; a single flame may be dim, but thousands of lights will illuminate even the darkest place like daylight. Do things that move others, letting compassion embellish our days to make life vivid, fulfilling, and abundant.
4. If you can greet every sunrise with a joyful heart, you possess today and, consequently, a bright future. By embracing every beautiful day, you secure a life without regret.
5. There is always a balance of much and little: the wealthy spend less time at home; the beautiful wear fewer clothes; the highly imaginative achieve less; the highly successful live shorter lives; the well-read have fewer schemes; the schemers have less peace; the overworked earn less; the powerful have less integrity; the many-lovers sleep less; the many-friends face fewer hardships; and the many-laughters suffer fewer illnesses. How much do you have, and how much do you lack?
6. Every path and every relationship carries memories. When a path is not yet finished, do not turn at a fork simply out of curiosity, lest you find yourself on the wrong road with no way back; when a relationship is not yet over, do not abandon it due to a moment of confusion, lest you regret it when there is no way to turn back.
7. Gaze at the sea of clouds in Huangshan; walk under the moonlight of Mount Lu; bathe in the mist of South Lake; tread on the residual snow of West Lake; explore the famous gardens of Nanjing; seek the old traces of Guangling; listen to Suzhou Pingtan; seek the ancient books of Huizhou; taste the new tea of Yangxian; peel the early oranges of Dongting; savor the fresh fish of Wuxing; and get drunk on the fragrant snow of Shaoxing.
8. Ambition is the foundation of a career and the compass on the journey forward. A person without ambition is like a kite with a broken string, swaying aimlessly in the sky. Once ambition is set, one must work tirelessly for it. Facts show: the higher the ambition, the greater the achievement.
9. When someone is tucked away in your heart, you will find joy in sitting alone in a quiet classroom reading and writing, strolling leisurely through bustling streets, smiling at a boss's criticism, and entering sweet dreams.
10. Work is work; life is life. In work, you play a professional role; in life, you are yourself. Work is only a small part of life; never mistake your tools of survival for the entirety of your existence!
11. A life without hardships is naive; a life without thought is mediocre; a life without pursuit is empty; a life without vitality is impoverished; and a life without foresight is shallow!
12. Life involves choices, at least in choosing a lifestyle. Often, it is not a lack of ability, but a lack of courage to step out of one's comfort zone. Believe that you are no less than others; what others can do, you can too, for we lack nothing.
13. I always thought that with a kind heart, one could inspire the world. When our actions bring laughter, we truly realize the value of it. While inspiring others, we also reap the same joy.
14. While fragrance or music might relax one, avoiding the world is not the way to inner peace. True "stillness" means "stability"—being clearly aware of one's every thought and intention to remain free from worry.
15. In moments of longing, I open the windows of my heart to let the poetry of spring flow in. I long to sit under a rose-covered trellis, composing your every glance and movement into colorful musical notes, letting tender emotions dance upon the strings.
16. Life is filled with regrets of missed opportunities. Meeting is a surprise; sharing is a beautiful chapter; cherishing is a sublimation; longing is a unique beauty. Do not ask why fate brings us together. Just sing, chant, walk, and stay warm, cherishing every moment. Remember the beauty of blooming flowers and forget the loneliness of falling ones. As Zhang Xiaoxian said: "The rise and fall of fate, its thickness or thinness, is beyond our control. What we can do is to cherish the brief moments when fate brings us together."
17. If you feel the warmth of the moon, it is because you believe it is warm. Last-minute efforts cannot bring luck. Human connections are reciprocal: you respect me a little, and I will return a great deal. I offer gentleness, and you offer friendship. If you call someone cold, consider if you were the one who pierced their passion. Do not overcomplicate things; hold too tightly, and things will break and your hands will ache.
18. Confucius said, "事父母几谏" (When serving parents, remonstrate gently). Facing a parent's mistakes, a true filial son does not blindly obey but acts with wisdom, using respectful words or seeking help from elders to prevent them from committing greater errors. Ruling by force is not true submission; ruling by reason is what leaves no room for argument. Especially when gaining power, it is easy to lose one's way; one must be cautious, as power can lead to boundless wrongdoing.
19. It is easy to live at home for a thousand days, but hard to go out for even one. The difficulty lies not in leaving, but in how one lived at home. If you rely on others for everything at home, you will struggle outside. No matter how busy one is, basic life skills are essential.
20. To the youth: Learn to endure loss. Loss and gain often occur simultaneously. An honest person who does not learn from loss will keep losing; a wise person who learns from loss will not repeat the mistake. Fear loss, for small losses accumulate into great blessings; do not always seek gain, for small gains can accumulate into great losses. You can be honest, but do not be foolish.
