54. People have joys and sorrows, just as the moon has its phases. In the changing seasons, we experience ebbs and flows, reminding us that life is but a great circle—a cycle of brilliance and lows, joy and sadness, gathering and parting. As the years pass and feelings exchange, we realize that life is a collection of bittersweet experiences; the ends of the earth reside within our hearts.

One must harbor the heart to save all living beings, abstain from killing, protect life, and be vegetarian. One must commit no evil and perform all good deeds. One must constantly reflect on oneself; whenever an unkind thought arises, eliminate it immediately; whenever a kind thought arises, expand it. Even if one cannot fully achieve this, the intention must never be absent. Practicing good thoughts, words, and deeds as a method to govern the body and mind—only then can one be a true disciple of Buddha.
66. Be patient when listening to others. Even if you are reluctant, do not interrupt, for you may learn lessons from their stories.
67. Looking back, I used to ride a bike, then walk, then use a cane, then lose my legs, and even face death... Haha, you might laugh at my pessimism, but only by comparing like this can we avoid excessive longing. In the decades of life, whether one was an emperor or a beggar, in the end, we all return to the dust.
