Happiness is not found at the crossroads, but at the end of the road. Joy and sorrow are both adversaries and companions. The greatest happiness often follows immense hardship, much like a pearl hidden in the ocean or treasure buried deep in the mountains; only through tireless searching can it be discovered.
When the moonlight shines upon my door, I wish the Moon Goddess would grant me one wish: to have human hands, so that I can hold my lover tightly in my arms, if only for once. If I had never tasted warmth, perhaps I would not feel this cold; if I had never experienced the sweetness of love, perhaps I would not feel this pain; if I had never met the kind Peg, if I had never left my room, I might never have realized how truly lonely I am. Living life a little more carefree is well enough. There is no need to understand everything. The world is vast and the individual is small; there is no need to place so much importance on certain matters. Pain and heartache are universal; in the process of living, there will always be misfortune and sorrow. Some things hurt more the more you cling to them. It is only in hindsight that we realize how difficult it is to understand life, and even harder to live it well. Life is already hard and we are already weary; there is no need to be so harsh on ourselves.
Even a broken game has its significance—and life is no different.
