Wisdom is a skill, while insight is a state of being. Wisdom builds and takes through addition, whereas insight deconstructs and lets go through subtraction. Wisdom is knowing how to advance; insight is knowing how to retreat. Only those who can retreat can advance; only those who can humble themselves can rise; only those who can bend can straighten; and Only those who can be soft can be strong. A wise person can take up things through skill, but a person of insight can let things go through their spiritual state. Only with both wisdom and insight can one achieve true freedom and ease in life.
The greatest wisdom in life can be summarized in six words: take it up and let it go. Take what is timely and let go when the situation demands. Many clever people in this world become mediocre because they overthink when they should act, missing opportunities, or cling too long when they should move on, becoming trapped. When it is time to let go, do not force a grip; when it is time to take up, do not let go easily. The former determines the ease of your life, while the latter determines how far you can go.
Some people are etched forever in our memories—even if we forget their voice, their smile, or their face, the feeling we experience whenever we remember them remains unchanged. We say with a smile that we remain in the same place in time, but in reality, everything has already been silently swept away by the torrent of time.
