When visiting a temple, people first encounter the smiling Maitreya Buddha, and to his north, the stern-faced Skanda. Legend has it that long ago, they did not reside in the same temple but managed different ones.
Maitreya, being warm and cheerful, attracted many followers. However, his casual approach to management and neglect of finances led to constant deficits. In contrast, while Skanda was highly skilled in accounting, his perpetually grim expression made him appear too stern, which drove visitors away and eventually caused the temple's influence to wane.
Recognizing this issue, Buddha placed them in the same temple: Maitreya was tasked with hospitality, welcoming all visitors, which caused the temple to flourish; while Skanda was put in charge of finances, maintaining strict and impartial oversight. Through their dedicated collaboration, the temple thrived.
In the eyes of a great leader, there are no useless people. Much like a martial arts master who can strike with a mere leaf, The key lies in how one utilizes talent.
