Consider this analogy: if you are destitute, you might explode in anger when insulted; but if you were a billionaire, you would likely dismiss it with a smile. You only react strongly when you share the same frequency and magnetic field. The reason others' words can ignite you instantly is that you are essentially the fuel. Emotions are swayed by external circumstances precisely because we carry such volatile elements within.
Life is filled with transient figures. Had they not already departed, I would not describe them as mere scenery. Those who once swore to be friends for life eventually fade into obscurity. Perhaps this is because life is so fleeting that while we rush through craziness, love, pursuit, and dreams, we forget those who walked by our sides, ending up as insignificant strangers in each other's minds.
Always remember those who treat you kindly, for they had no obligation to do so. No genuine love requires you to abandon your dignity, degrade yourself, or suffer. Love may leave you bewildered, provoke jealousy or anger, or bring tears, but ultimately, it should be warm and provide a sense of security. If it isn't, you have either loved the wrong person or applied the wrong approach. It is better to be single than to suffer.
Slanted sunlight illuminates the village; in secluded lanes, oxen and sheep return home. An elderly farmer, worried for his herdboy, leans on his staff waiting by the thorny gate. Pheasants cry out as wheat sprouts flourish; silkworms sleep as mulberry leaves thin out. A field laborer arrives with a hoe, and they greet each other with lingering affection. Gazing at this, I envy their carefree ease and joyfully sing the Song of Twilight.
It is relative that money is easy to make, but absolute that it is hard to earn. The swan meat that falls from the sky into your mouth may be poisonous; when you open your mouth to enjoy this unexpected delicacy, you may be sealing your fate.
