On a barren land, grass grows fastest, then shrubs emerge slowly, followed by various mixed trees; the grass and shrubs disappear due to lack of sunlight. Long after, pine trees grow from under the mixed trees, gradually surpassing them, and eventually stand tall for thousands of years.
