What is life? Why do we live? What is the meaning of our existence? Life is like fireworks in the night sky—beautiful yet fleeting. We live to face setbacks and to experience joy that is brief yet eternal. The meaning of life often lies in the wisdom we gain during the most bitter or sweetest moments of our lives.
Courage is the sunlight of life; hope is the sunlight of life; and love is the sunlight of life. When facing setbacks and suffering, people often long for a miracle. But when miracles no longer appear, how should we respond? Some flee because they no longer wish to face reality; others escape because they cannot bear the contempt in others' eyes; some avoid confrontation because they are tired of hearing sarcasm and ridicule. Yet others view these trials as tests from heaven and face them bravely; still others rely on their own courage to achieve success.
Nick has suffered from a rare disease since birth, leaving him without limbs. He relies solely on his tiny "chicken feet" to manage his daily life. His congenital disability once led him to contemplate suicide at the age of eight. However, he later used those "chicken feet" to accomplish feats that many deemed impossible. He learned to write, type on a computer, answer the phone, throw a ball, and even swim. At the age of twenty-one, he earned a university degree and began speaking around the world, sharing the resilience of life.
Pain and setbacks are tests bestowed upon us by fate. Do not give up or escape just because you encounter difficulties. "Rather than cursing the darkness, light a candle." If miracles disappear, use your courage, dreams, and hope to light another candle, open another window, and find another path.
