If you are willing to sink into despair and cannot pull yourself out, then no one in this world can save you. Even when facing a situation that seems to demand death, one must still strive to survive. Pleasant words easily touch the heart, but well-intentioned advice often offends people. Lonely individuals have their own unique mud and helplessness. There is always someone who resides deep in the heart, yet has already bid farewell in life. Buddhism and demonry may exist only in a single thought; the subtlety of their application lies in the mind. All realms are created by the mind: when the mind turns toward evil, the gates of hell open; when the mind turns toward good, the gates of heaven open. Chanting the Buddha's name requires genuine faith and earnest aspiration. One must be respectful and sincere, listen with full attention, and develop the heart to save all sentient beings. One must refrain from killing and protect life, keep a vegetarian diet, avoid all evil, and practice all good. One must constantly self-reflect: when an unwholesome thought arises, immediately extinguish it; when a wholesome thought arises, it must be expanded. Even if one lacks the power to act, the intention for good must never be absent. In daily life, one should always cultivate good thoughts, speak good words, and do good deeds as the method for governing the body and mind. Only by chanting in this way can one be considered a true disciple of the Buddha.
