One day, a big bad wolf was strolling by a river. Feeling suddenly hungry, it caught five large fish.
However, the wolf ate too quickly, and a fishbone got stuck in its throat.
A red-crowned crane was passing by and saw the wolf struggling with the bone. Without a second thought, it approached the stream to help.
The crane approached the wolf and asked, "Mr. Wolf, what's wrong? Are you stuck with a fishbone? If so, let me help you peck it out!" the crane offered earnestly.
The crane added, "I can help you, but you must not repay kindness with ingratitude!" The wolf struggled and replied, "I know, I know! Just hurry up and get the bone out! I'll agree to any condition!"
The crane agreed and carefully pecked the bone out of the wolf's throat. To its surprise, the wolf actually tried to betray it. Fortunately, a little white rabbit saw what was happening and shouted, "Watch out, Sister Crane! The big bad wolf is going to eat you!" Hearing this, the crane quickly flew away. Enraged, the wolf turned to chase the rabbit. Luckily, the rabbit was fast and had prepared in advance; it had asked a puppy to dig a hole and hid inside it. In the end, the wolf got lost in the forest, and no one was willing to help it when it cried for rescue.
The moral of the story is: One should never be ungrateful or betray those who help. Only by being grateful will others be willing to help and trust you.
