On the shore, several people were fishing while tourists nearby enjoyed the seascape. Suddenly, a fisherman jerked his rod and pulled up a massive fish, three feet long, which thrashed violently on the bank. To everyone's surprise, the fisherman simply stepped on the fish, removed the hook, and tossed it back into the sea.
The onlookers gasped, thinking that even such a large catch was not enough to satisfy him, reflecting his immense ambition.
As the crowd watched with bated breath, the fisherman's rod jerked again. This time, he caught a two-foot-long fish, which he also cast back into the water without a second glance. On his third attempt, the line brought up a small fish, less than a foot long. The spectators assumed this small fish would also be released, but to their amazement, the fisherman carefully unhooked it and placed it into his basket.
Confused, a tourist asked, "Why do you reject the large fish and choose only the small one?"
The fisherman replied, "Because the largest plate in my home is only one foot wide; if I catch a fish that is too large, it simply won't fit."
