Eve was strolling through the Garden of Eden when a serpent crossed her path. "Eat this apple," the serpent said. Adhering to God's command, Eve refused. "If you eat this apple," the serpent continued to coax, "you will become more beautiful and charming, and your husband will love you even more." "That is unnecessary," Eve said firmly, "my husband has no other woman besides me." The serpent laughed, "What do you mean? Of course he does!" Then, the serpent led Eve to a small hill with a well. "That woman is down there, in the well. Your husband Adam has hidden her here." Eve looked down, and the reflection of a beautiful woman appeared in the well water. Consequently, Eve took the apple offered by the serpent and ate it resolutely. Envy may be one of the most common and deep-rooted human emotions, but regardless, never let it blind your eyes.
